Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib is the Group Chief Financial Officer and Group Head, Ports & Logistics Division at MMC Corporation Berhad. Before he assumed his current role in 2008, he was the CFO of Port of Tanjung Pelepas, a subsidiary of MMC. Anwar is a trained chartered accountant with extensive experience at Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Manchester in the United Kingdom. He was formerly a co-owner and Managing Director of Business Associates Consulting Sdn Bhd, a boutique strategy and management consulting firm based in Kuala Lumpur. Anwar started his career with Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd as a transport executive where he gained considerable experience in transport and logistics.
Anwar is currently on the board of several MMC group companies namely MMC Engineering Services Sdn Bhd, Tepat Teknik Sdn Bhd, Teknik Janakuasa Sdn Bhd, GB3 Sdn Bhd, JP Logistics Sdn Bhd and Enigma Harmoni Sdn Bhd. He is an EXCO member and a director of MMC Gamuda KVMRT (PDP) Sdn Bhd and MMC Gamuda KVMRT (T) Sdn Bhd which are responsible for the delivery of the 51km Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit Project from Sungai Buloh to Kajang. In addition, Anwar is an EXCO and a director of MMC-Gamuda Joint Venture Sdn Bhd which is responsible for the 329km Ipoh to Padang Besar Electrified Double Track Project.
Anwar has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College, London and obtained his MBA from University of Salford, United Kingdom. Anwar is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
